“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world” – Harriet Tubman
I fell in love with the sound of a piano when I was a child and knew one day I would learn how to play one. However, my journey in music started later in life than most musicians. I spent most of my youth working many part time jobs and studying. I got a BSc in Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta.
I was born and raised in Edmonton, Canada and relocated to the SF bay area in my early 20s to start my career as a software engineer. That’s when I could afford to take private lessons in guitar, piano and voice. I spent a lot of time learning how to sing and play piano through Tori Amos’ song books. Many have commented on hearing her influence in my music.
In 2007, I joined Leilujh, a SF psychedelic indie band, as a keyboardist and back up singer for about a year. In 2008, I had the fortunate opportunity of meeting Joshua Rumer, producer of my debut album. I spent about a year taking weekend road trips to LA to record with Rumer.
Together we produced my debut album, “Heart Anchors”, which is a collection of delicate pop songs with elements similar to Aimee Mann, Tori Amos, and Sarah Mclachlan.
Each piece on this disc is distinct, giving the listener something new to hear and feel from one song to the next. Ranging from soothing and melancholy, to upbeat and invigorating and from rich and lush to barren and stark, there is something to inspire and catch the attention of listeners of all backgrounds.
Songs from “Heart Anchors” made it onto 15 top 30 charts at college and community radio stations across North America. “Dark Star” was placed on 5Star Channel 5 TV commercial in the UK and “Fading Into Black” was placed in the trailing credits of Warner Polish TV series “Lekarze”. I’ve performed all around the bay area as a solo artist, as well as with a full band.
I’m excited to announce the release of my second album, “Free Like a Bird”, available January 2016. This collection of 8 songs was recorded, produced and mixed by Joshua Rumer, CEO of Invengo Productions.
I hope you find inspiration from my story and my music.
Thanks for listening!
