New Album “Free Like a Bird” Available January 16, 2016!

Hi,

I’m happy to announce that my second album, “Free Like a Bird”, produced and mixed by Joshua Rumer, CEO of Invengo Productions is set for release on January 16, 2016!

It’ll be available on iTunes, Bandcamp, Amazon, and Spotify, etc.

If you share my album, message me and I will personally send you a link to download mp3s of my album for free.

It has been quite a while since my debut release, over 6 years. I had gotten burned out from the music business side of my debut release and took a break from music for about a year. I lost focus and I didn’t know why I wanted to make music. I didn’t know what my vision or purpose was.

After I had gone on a ten day meditation retreat, I realized that I was missing music from my life. I love music that moves my emotions and makes me feel connected. I hope that my music moves you in a way that you can relate to. My biggest hope is that my music inspires you to pursue your dreams the same way music I love has inspired me to make music.

I worked on this album for over a year and a half. Most of my songs are based on piano driven rhythms. My songs were inspired by love, loss, life, sadness and most of all, about longing to find a place to belong.

Musicians I would like to thank and give credit to: Gregg Cash (bass), Toshi Yanagi (guitar), Brian Mendes (drums), Steve Bernal (cello), Danny Levin (horns).

I hope you enjoy it!
Dune

EP still set for release this summer of 2015

Hi Friends!

I am still on track to release an EP of new tunes for 2015.

I have finished recording my songs and they need to be mixed and mastered.

I have decided to call my album “Free like a bird”.

I feel like a lot of these songs represent freedom to me. I have grown as an artist to understanding why I’m doing this. For a while, things were very quiet on the music front for me. I had this passion to create music and make it a huge part of my life and when I released my debut album I was thrown in a slew of music business related things that I didn’t enjoy and I didn’t understand. I questioned myself and why I was doing music. I wasn’t saving lives… I didn’t feel like I contributed to society making these songs. So things grew very quiet for me and I probably didn’t touch an instrument for over a year. I have done a lot of soul searching including a ten day silent meditation retreat. I understand better why and where I fit in, though, it’s a journey so I think it’s a growing and learning journey.

I like to create music for emotional and artistic expression and inspire people to live and dream outside of barriers and boundaries.

I’ve been posting pictures to my instagram. https://instagram.com/dune_tran/

Joshua Rumer, my producer, and I have been working diligently. We have added horns by Danny T Levin, guitar by Toshi Yanagi, bass by Gregg Cash, drums by Brian Mendes and cello by Steve Bernal.

Next up, I need to update my website with new pictures. I need to figure out ideas on low-budget music video options. If you have ideas, please feel free to email me!

I have been trying to decide whether or not I should give my music out for free. Lately, I’ve noticed that some artists give away their music for free because they want to share their music with as many people as possible. Though, those artists tend to have had their music financially funded through crowdfunding sources.

I’m not sure about sharing it on sites like Spotify yet. They definitely don’t pay artists much. I’m not doing it for the money, but it would be a dream come true to make enough to record songs without funding it financially myself.

Finally, big news, I have left my job to go back to school to get a masters in HCI to become a user experience designer. I want to have a future that is creative and technical and helps people become more productive by designing experiences that are intuitive and enjoyable. Before I start school in the fall, I am spending some time to experience living in Nashville, music city. Nashville is filled with songwriters from all over the world sharing their songs at open mics and writers nights. You can feel a genuine love and support for artists and songwriters here.

Stay tuned! I’m planning on releasing my EP this summer!

Take care,
Dune

Placement in Polish TV series “Lekarze”

Finally figured out how Polish fans found my music. And I noticed radio conga slide show video of “Fading into black” blew up to 46k views. Looks like my song “Fading into Black” was used in a Polish tv series called “Lekarze”.

Warner Poland wanted “Fading into Black” ….

Is it news if someone from Getty Images contacted me about Warner Poland wanting permission to put “Fading Into Black” on “Lekarze Vol 2.” 2-CD project even though I was told several days later that it got cancelled. 🙁 Hell yeah! Thanks Poland for showing my music some love! Here’s a link to the compilation. Maybe it will get released in the future! I’d love to play a show in Poland. 🙂

Tunetraveller music review on “Silence”

It’s nice to know that my music is still being “discovered”. Thanks to Tunetraveller for reaching out and writing this lovely review on my favorite song on my Heart Anchors album, “Silence”. No wonder it’s the first track on my album AND I have a music video for it thanks to Revelcade entertainment. 🙂 Glad others find something to enjoy about it as well.

If your musical tastes run to beautiful, melodic pop (and, let’s face it, whose doesn’t?), then Dune Tran’s “Silence” may be just the ticket. But wait…it also has some bite as it picks up the tempo half-way through until reaching a crescendo before reverting to the opening theme at the coda. Slow, fast, slow again. Play, listen, repeat, download. “Silence” isn’t the kind of song you can listen to casually. It engages you, makes you sit up and take notice and sounds new and discoverable, even with repeated listenings. And don’t skip the video…the cinematography is stunning. Heart Anchors is Ms. Tran’s only release to date and we’ve waited long enough to hear what she can do with her sophomore effort. Rating: 4 stars (out of 5)

TV Placement in UK

I was contacted by a viewer of 5star Channel 5 in the UK telling me that they’re using my song “Dark Star” in their Wed night movie TV trailer and wanted to know how to digitally download my album.

I had my album included in PumpAudio’s music library and that’s how Channel 5 got a hold of my song.

I was super ecstatic to view this commercial and as a result noticed more iTunes Europe downloads and significant Spotify plays of “Dark Star”

Thanks to Channel 5 and to PumpAudio for supporting and sharing independent music!

I will share this cool trailer with you until the station asks me to take it down. 😉

As a result, I realized that it’s time to get with the times and offer digital downloads so I’ve set up a dunetran.bandcamp.com to sell my album for $5!!

Enjoy!
